Want to keep life simple and organized? Start your day like this

Todays post is a bit more serious than usual. One that might help you to get your life more organized.

I like to reflect on who I am. I like to think about the things I want to achieve in life. Not all the time but sometimes I just pause for a second. Who am I? And what do I want my life to look like?

My days are over before I know it. Perhaps this is because I ‘m doing all kind of things interchangeably throughout the day. I began to annoy myself about the days in which the time flew by and at the end of the day I did not feel fulfilled. I worked very hard but the chaos in my head of all the things that distract me from what I wanted to do made me feel just annoying. Once and for all this had to change,  so I decided to go deeper into a concept that reduce the chaos and stress inside my head.

The outcome of this research is a simple morning ritual of at most 10 minutes each morning. I will explain point by point how this ritual works and then you can decide whether it may also work for you. In preparation for this morning ritual you do the following thing.

Write out the things you want in life

Pause your life. Just think about who you are. How do you want your life to look like? Write on a list the answer to this question, perhaps inspired by your examples, in how they organize their lives. This list is yours only and you can change or modify it any time you like. It is not the intention that you let others read it because you are the one who must decide how you want your life to look like. That’s a thing that no one can do for you.

The morning ritual, take time each morning

Get up and make sure that you will  not be bothered by anything. Make sure you are fully awake, possibly before, after or during breakfast. Just grab your list and reflect on what it says. Now it’s time to plan your day.

Who am I today

I’ll do that by writing down what I want to achieve today. A to-do list. Just simply write some things down where you want to deal with. During the day you can notice what you have achieved and which things are the most important ones. Make sure that at the end of the day you will reflect on this list. Never by angry if you loose track on this list or thoughts, do what you can and be proud of that.

Dare to life

There are two ways of moving through life. The most common is a life in response to what’s on your way. It’s a life of worry, chaos, apologies, complaints and frustration because life does not treat you like you think it should be doing. The other way is how I’ve described. This is a life in which you proactively prepare for what is coming at you. You think about who you are and how you handle things.

That might help you to get more things out of life then you’ll ever thought was possible because the truth is: people who get what they want tend to be the ones who make the effort to think about what they want.

But remember: Don’t ask yourself, ‘what do I want from my life?’ the question is too big.
